The Recharge Sequence

Serial Number

Locate the 10-digit serial number on the rear of your Hafilat card. Ensure the print is legible; if worn, use a previous physical receipt to verify account ID.

Define
Credit Type

Select 'EPurse' for balance starting from 5 AED, or choose a 7-day or 30-day 'Period Pass' for unlimited city-wide movement on all local routes.

Mandatory
3D Secure

Submit payment using a Visa or Mastercard. UAE gateways require 3D Secure authentication; keep your bank's mobile app ready for OTP verification.

Physical
Card Tap

The transaction remains 'Pending' until you tap your card on a bus validator. Data sync takes between 2 to 48 hours for the chip to update.

Sync Latency

Online credits are not stored in the cloud. They must be written to the card's physical antenna during a bus tap. This process is restricted by the bus network's periodic wireless updates.

Registration Shield

Registering your serial number on the Hafilat portal ensures balance protection. In the event of card loss, the remaining credit can be migrated to a new ID via Al Wahda Street office.
